Englische Projekt-Vorstellung

Blanca, a 34 year old married mother of three children (3 mo, 9, 13), has a firewood business and is a member of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Rosas de San Miguel” in the department/state of Sacatepequez. She sells from her home and also goes door to door in her community, because most women cook on stoves fueled by firewood. The business is growing and Blanca is anxious to restock her firewood. With a KIVA loan, Blanca will be able to increase her income and improve the quality of life for her family. She will also be able to set aside funds for the education of her children. Blanca is requesting a KIVA loan to buy more wood and some carts to hold and sell her firewood.

Although she only has six years of formal education, Blanca is anxious to learn more about how to manage her business, care for her family and empower herself. Along with the other six ladies in her Trust Bank, she looks forward to the monthly meetings when loan payments are made. Afterwards, the women participate in essential educational sessions that cover an aspect of four topics: business, family, health, women. The business management tools will help the ladies with their restaurant, bakeries, as well as the sales of clothing and firewood. Friendship Bridge calls the combination of loans, education and health care services “Microcredit Plus”.

Thank you, KIVA investors, for the essential role you play in the lives of Blanca and her friends!
